Navopache Electric Cooperative, Inc. (NEC)

NEC is seeking an Energy Services Professional. NEC is situated within the White Mountains of Arizona, 180 miles NE of Phoenix. It is a place of beautiful scenery and mild climate, with a small community atmosphere where you know your neighbors. The area abounds in opportunities for hiking, hunting, fishing and other outdoors sports.

This position is responsible for ensuring the accurate and consistent application of Arizona Corporation Commission (ACC) and/or New Mexico Public Regulation Commission (NMPRC) guidelines for compliance with renewable resources, demand side management and energy efficiency rules. Responsible for key accounts and business development programs.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Works with CFO on strategic programs and initiatives for Energy Efficiency, Renewable Energy Standard Tariff (REST), and Demand Side Management Programs.
  • Develops, promotes, implements and manages renewable energy, energy efficiency and demand side management programs that ensure regulatory compliance and provide benefits to NEC’s members.
  • Maintain a thorough understanding of NEC’s tariff rates and ensure the proper application to member accounts, billing, energy services and retail renewable energy products, services and programs.
  • Establish and maintain data analytics tools to monitor the relationships between power purchases, NEC owned renewable energy generation and member billed energy including member owned renewable resources.
  • Responsible for preparation of data compilation to meet NEC’s regulatory requirements. Prepare and file compliance and technical reports as required by regulatory agencies for renewable resources, demand side management and energy efficiency programs.
  • Analyzes data and prepares reports and/or updates of programs status for management, the ACC and NMPRC.
  • Work cooperatively with all NEC departments to maintain system and data integrations to maximize operational efficiencies.
  • Works closely with management, NISC, the ACC and NMPRC when developing products and services.
  • Maintains an understanding of key business objectives and initiatives, industry topics, issues and news relating to energy, including solar industry developments, rate making policy changes, environmental changes, and regulatory updates.
  • Develops, promotes, implements, and manages renewable energy and energy efficiency programs that ensure regulatory compliance and provide benefits to NEC’s members.
  • Helps lead NEC’s renewable energy and energy efficiency product development processes by working collaboratively with internal staff.
  • Monitors existing energy efficiency, demand response and renewable energy programs for effectiveness and compliance.
  • Oversees member support for grid-tied solar connections including reservations and inspections.
  • Submits, coordinates and tests NISC programs in areas of responsibility as needed.
  • Processes material requisitions for all sections of the department.
  • Responsible for creating, maintaining and adapting a Key Accounts program. Will regularly monitor and report on its status regularly to appropriate NEC management.
  • Monitors and evaluates new energy programs and technologies for potential adoption and expansion. Would also be responsible for the conversion or implementation for any approved programs in these areas.
  • Performs other duties as directed

QUALIFICATIONS:

Formal Education

Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Business or other area of study acceptable to NEC.

Previous Job Experience

Seven years of experience in renewable energy and energy efficiency programs with supervisory and project management experience in the electrical utility industry.

SPECIAL SKILLS:

  • A strong understanding of the energy sector, current trends across renewable energy deployment, energy efficiency programs, and electric utility operations is important.
  • Project management, development and facilitation.
  • Have a thorough knowledge of renewable energy and energy efficiency programs for utility operations.
  • Have working knowledge of computers.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word and Access.
  • Have a thorough knowledge and understanding of all applicable safety rules, regulations and practices.
  • Have strong written and oral communications skills.
  • Have leadership and supervisory ability.

This position may be filled as a Supervisor or a Manager depending on education, experience and skills of selected candidate. Actual compensation offered to candidate may vary outside of the posted hiring range based upon listed qualifications, skill level and NEC business needs at the time of hire.

Energy Services Professional

Hiring Salary Range:

$80,000 – $115,000 + DOQ

HOURS OF OPERATION: 4/10s NEC is currently on a 4/10 schedule (Monday through Thursday).

SALARY: Commensurate with qualifications.
